For the purpose of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT. The Board of Adjustment of Beaufort County, North Carolina.
BUILDING. Includes the word STRUCTURE.
COMMISSIONERS. The Commissioners of the County of Beaufort, North Carolina.
COUNTY. The County of Beaufort, North Carolina.
LOT. Includes the words PLOT, PARCEL, SITE, and PREMISES.
MAP, ZONING MAP,and BEAUFORT COUNTY ZONING MAP. The official zoning map for the County of Beaufort, North Carolina.
MAY. The word MAY is permissive.
ORDINANCE AND REGULATION. The Zoning Ordinance of Beaufort County, North Carolina.
PERSON. A firm, association, organization, partnership, trust, company, or corporation as well as an individual.
PLANNING BOARD. The Beaufort County Planning Board.
SHALL. The word SHALL is always mandatory and not merely directory.
USED or OCCUPIED. Intended, designed, and arranged to be used or occupied.
