§ 1-5-2 CITY TREASURER.
   (A)   Appointment of City Treasurer. There is hereby created the office of City Treasurer, to be appointed by the City Council at the first meeting of January following a regular city election, for a two-year term, commencing on that date and continuing until a successor is appointed and qualified.
   (B)   Duties. The City Treasurer shall have the following duties:
      (1)   Funds separate. Keep separate accounts for every appropriation, department, public improvement or undertaking, in the manner approved by law;
      (2)   Receipts. Keep an accurate account of all cash, investments, accounts receivable and property received by, due to or in the custody of the city and to give a receipt in triplicate immediately upon cash being received by the city specifying the date from whom, for what account and record each transaction in the correct fund as required by law, and Council commitments, and property disposed of or sold by the city, specifying the date and to whom paid and record each transaction in the correct fund as required by law and Council direction where not specified by law;
      (3)   Special assessments. Keep a separate account of all money received from special assessments which shows from whom the amount is received, date received, for what purpose and on what lot or parcel of land the amount is paid; and
      (4)   Deposits. Immediately upon receipt of moneys to be held in custody and belonging to the city, deposit the same un bonds selected by City Council in amounts not exceeding monetary limits authorized by the Council.
