The purpose of this chapter is to provide for safety, health and public welfare through structural strength and stability, means of egress, adequate light and ventilation and protection to life and property from fire and hazards incident to the design, construction, alteration, removal or demolition of buildings and other structures; safe wiring and electrical appliances; safe gas piping and appliances; safe heating devices; safe and sanitary design, construction, installation, quality of materials, location, operation and maintenance of plumbing, heating, ventilating, comfort cooling, refrigeration systems, incinerators and other miscellaneous heat-producing appliances and other installations, equipment and appliances regulated herein.
