A. Every owner of a dog or cat four (4) months of age or older residing in Beach Park shall register such dog or cat at a place designated by the health department. Registration must be accomplished within thirty (30) days after inoculation against rabies. The owner must present an approved, properly completed vaccination certificate and pay a fee set by the board of health. The health department will furnish the owner with a completed one year or three (3) year registration certificate and an official one year or three (3) year Lake County rabies tag. The period of registration shall be concurrent with the period of vaccination.
B. A rabies tag and registration certificate issued by another county in Illinois will be honored in Beach Park until expiration if the owner has recently established residence in Lake County. New residents from outside Illinois owning or keeping a dog or cat four (4) months of age or older shall register such dog or cat at the Lake County animal rabies control facility within thirty (30) days after establishing residence in Lake County.
C. Registration of dogs and cats must be processed upon receipt of a rabies vaccination from a veterinarian practicing in Lake County or servicing a dog or cat that resides in Beach Park. Veterinarians and animal hospitals must provide rabies registration services to all pet owners upon receipt of a rabies vaccination as specified in this chapter and the animal rabies control fee.
