A. General Penalty. Any person, firm, corporation, or entity which violates any of the provisions of this title or other applicable codes or ordinances of the Village, or who disobeys, omits, neglects, or refuses to comply with, or who resists the enforcement of, any of the provisions of this title, applicable Village codes and ordinances, the approved plans and documents of the building permit, or any certificate or other permit issued under the provisions of this title, shall be guilty of an offense and punished by a fine of not less than $50 or more than $750 for each provision of this title violated. Each day on which such violation continues shall be considered a separate offense.
B. Special Penalty for No Permit. In addition to every other penalty provided by law, any person, firm, corporation, or entity that undertakes any work for which a permit is required by this title without first having secured a permit authorizing such work may be fined a sum of money at least equal to two times the full amount of the building or other permit for such work. Such fine is in addition to the required fee.
C. Stop Work Orders. Any person who shall continue any work after having been served with a stop work order, except such work as that person is directed to perform to remove a violation or unsafe condition, shall be liable to a fine of not less than $50 or more than $750 for each offense payable to the Village. Each day on which such violation continues shall be considered a separate offense.
D. Abatement of Violations. The imposition of the penalties herein prescribed does not preclude the Village from instituting appropriate action to prevent unlawful construction, or to restrain, correct, or abate a violation, or to prevent illegal occupancy of a building, structure, or premises, or to stop an illegal act, conduct, business, or use of a building or structure on or about any premises.
