15.01.090: TIME LIMITS:
   A.   Expiration of Building Permit. Any building permit issued pursuant to this title will be null and void if:
      1.   The work authorized by such permit has not commenced within six (6) months after the date of issuance of such permit.
      2.   Such work has begun but is suspended or abandoned for six (6) months or longer.
      3.   Work is not completed within one year or such longer time as may be stated in the permit.
   B.   Extensions. The building official may, but is not required to, extend any such time limit for six months for good cause shown, after written request for such extension. The fee for such extension shall be as listed in the Village’s Schedule of Fees. The fee may be waived by the building official if good cause is shown.
   C.   Restoration Required. If a permit has expired and is not renewed, then the property must be rendered safe, and all fees paid therefor are forfeited to the Village and the permit is null and void. If the permittee does not render the property safe, then the Village may complete such work and recover all of the Village’s costs and expenses by the filing of a lien on the property or by any other legal action permitted by law.
   D.   Applications. Any permit application pending for more than six (6) months for which no permit has been issued will be returned to the applicant and deemed null and void. (Ord. 2023-O-8)
