The Town Council, at its first meeting of the year, shall choose from its members a presiding officer, who shall serve until the second Monday in January of the next succeeding year, when his or her successor shall be chosen to serve for one year in like manner. The President shall appoint a temporary presiding officer with the Council’s approval.
