In times of natural disaster and/or civil emergencies, the Chairperson of the Board of Commissioners of the county is authorized to activate the county emergency operations command post and to designate a Chief Fire Officer. The Chief Fire Officer and the County Sheriff, the County Health Officer, the Emergency Services Coordinator and the Emergency Preparedness Coordinator, or their designated representatives, shall assist the Chairperson in evaluating the need for the declaration of a local disaster emergency.
