(A) Role of County Highway Engineer. The County Highway Engineer shall have the power and authority to post county roads from time to time and place to place with weight limits for vehicles using the roads as conditions may warrant.

(B) Posting of weight limits.
(1) Weight limits shall be posted on signs set on or along the restricted roads. Signs shall have white backgrounds with black letters.
(2) Weight limits may be stated as a gross vehicular weight limit or axle weight limit or both. When axle limit is used, the wheel group on either end of an axle shall not exceed one-half the axle limit.

(C) Penalties. Any person found operating a vehicle in violation of provisions of this schedule or posted weight limit shall be guilty of a Class C infraction and shall be punished in accordance with terms of I.C. 9-20-4-3.

(D) Listing of roads with restricted weight limits.
(1) Pursuant to I.C. 9-20-1-3, the Board of County Commissioners may, after appropriate engineering and traffic investigations have been made, make the determination to limit the weight of vehicles traveling on certain county roads.
(2) All roads designated to have traffic restricted by gross vehicle weight shall be properly determined by appropriate ordinance of the Board of County Commissioners.
(3) The County Highway Engineer shall maintain, in his or her office, a copy of all roads designated to have weight restrictions, which shall be available for public inspection during regular business hours.
(4) There are imposed the following regulations on vehicular traffic on C.R. 450 S and C.R. 400 S located in the county:
The portion of C.R. 450 S, beginning at its intersection with S.R. 11 and extending east to the point that C.R. 450 S becomes C.R. 400 S and ending at the intersection of C.R. 400 S and U.S. 31 shall be closed to thru semi-trucks exceeding 14 tons gross weight
(5) After the roadway has been posted with signs designating the weight restriction, any person violating this division (D) shall be guilty of a Class C infraction for each violation.
(6) Fines resulting from violations of this division (D) shall be deposited into the General Fund of the county.
