All fences which are in existence at the time of the passage hereof, but which do not conform to one or more applicable provisions of this chapter, shall be allowed to remain until such time as any such existing fence is damaged or removed. In the event that any such existing fence is repaired or replaced, that portion or portions which are repaired or replaced shall be in compliance with the requirements of this chapter.
