1-10-12: EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY:
   A.   Equal Employment Opportunity Statement:
      1.   The Town shall be an equal opportunity employer. Discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, handicap, age (40-70), political affiliation, sexual orientation, marital status, ancestry, pregnancy and parenthood, with respect to terms and conditions of employment, including, but not limited to, recruitment, selection, hiring, promotion, demotion, layoff, reinstatement, termination, training, or any other personnel actions prohibited except where a bona fide occupational qualification or job requirement exists.
      2.   No person occupying or applying for any position covered under these personnel policies shall be appointed, promoted, demoted or dismissed for any reason other than for qualification, merit and fitness for service, or lack thereof.
      3.   The Town shall take action to ensure equality of opportunity in employment. The Town shall encourage training for all management and supervisory personnel as necessary to provide an understanding of the Town's equal employment opportunity policy and its implementation.
   B.   Appeal Procedure: Any complaints arising out of the work situation within the organization involving allegations of discrimination on the basis of race, color, sex, age, handicap, national origin, political or religious affiliation, marital status, ancestry, pregnancy or parenthood, shall be carried out in accordance with the grievance procedure established in the personnel policies of the Town under Section 1-10-10 of this Chapter.
