(A) A permanent full-time employee of the city who, on the written orders of his or her division head or department head, works on a job in a higher classification for more than four consecutive hours, shall be paid at the rate for such higher classification and in the same step as such employee is in at the time for the number of hours worked in the higher classification. A permanent full-time employee shall not be paid at a higher rate under any circumstances for replacing a department head or a division head.
(B) The Director of Finance is hereby authorized and directed to draw his or her warrants in payment of such sums as are authorized to be paid under division (A) above.
