A local emergency shall exist for the period set forth in the declaration, but shall not exceed 2 weeks in duration. However, the local emergency may be extended for additional, 2-week periods with Council approval. The Mayor shall terminate the state of emergency when the emergency no longer exists or the threat of an emergency has passed.
