§ 32.058  FIREARMS.
   (A)   All duly sworn officers of the Department shall read and understand the following rules and regulations with respect to firearms.  All sworn officers must meet the terms of the Firearms Training Officer and qualify themselves as set out in the Firearms Training Course sponsored by the Department.
   (B)   Members of the Department are required to participate in a Department Firearms Training Course at the scheduled times allocated for the event, on an annual basis and at such other times as the Firearms Training Officer may deem it necessary.  Failure to comply with this requirement will result in the loss of the privilege to carry a firearm.
      (1)   Any officer failing to qualify during Firearms Training Course shall seek additional firearms training in order to qualify.  Failure to seek additional training within 10 days will result in the referral the Town Council for a complaint of misconduct.  The complaint must be made in writing and signed by the Marshal.
      (2)   Officers will not carry any weapon on official duty for which they do not have full knowledge as to the mechanical operation of the weapon, or that is known by them to be in an unsafe condition.  They are responsible for the regular maintenance of their weapons and shall, upon demand by the Marshal, present the weapon for inspection by the individual.
      (3)   Officers must qualify with the off-duty weapon(s), firing the same course and under the same conditions as their service weapon.
