§ 32.052  POLICE OFFICER DEFINED.
   (A)   Police officers are appointed by the Town Marshal with the approval of the Town Council and shall perform those duties assigned to them by the Marshal by way of general or special orders.  Police officers are, immediately after their appointment, probationary personnel, and may be discharged for any reason without right to hearing prior to completing a period of employment exceeding 6 months after satisfactory graduation from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy Basic Training Course.  After completing a period of employment exceeding 6 months after satisfactory graduation from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy Basic Training Course, a police officer may be discharged only for performance of their duties, police officers shall have the same police powers as the Marshal and shall work the hours assigned by the Marshal.
   (B)   The Marshal may appoint deputy marshals, not to exceed 4 in number, who shall be compensated as the Council may from time to time deem appropriate.
