(A) Electric meters. The meter must be located on an exterior wall of the permanent structure to which service is provided. In the case of a mobile home, the meter is to be placed on a utility pole that is to be supplied by the customer. All meters must be easily accessible for reading and servicing. Upon request in writing by the customer prior to installation, the meter and service line will be located at the point requested, if feasible, under proper utility standards.
(1) The customer will provide access rights to the utility strip occupied by the service cables and to other company equipment required by the service cables and to other company equipment required to furnish and/or maintain service.
(2) The customer shall install service entrance equipment for each single-family residence (or for each residence unit of a 2-or-more-family residence) in accordance with local, state, national codes, regulations, and ordinances, and with regulations of the company.
(3) The customer shall furnish and install, to company specifications, required duct or conduit under driveways or other areas and at meter locations.
(4) The company will furnish drawings showing locations of and specifications for work to be performed by the customer.
(5) Any time an unsafe or hazardous condition exists, the customer shall be notified and given a specific amount of time to correct the situation or, if warranted, service may be disconnected.
(B) Water meters. The meter must be located in an outdoor pit. When the meter is to be installed in an underground pit, the pit shall be located in a convenient and readily accessible location. Upon written request by the customer prior to installation, the pit will be located at the point requested, if feasible under proper utility standards. The pit must be constructed so as to protect the water meter from freezing and damage by vehicular traffic. The pit location should prevent, as much as possible, the inflow of surface water.
(C) Gas meters.
(1) Gas meters must be located within 18 inches from the exterior wall of the permanent structure. No gas service line will be provided to a structure that is not on a permanent foundation.
(2) In the case of mobile homes, the mobile home must be placed on a permanent foundation, the axles removed and tie-downs put in place. All other requirements provided by OSHA and the State of Indiana must be followed.
