The state has found that abandoned or discarded motor vehicles constitute a public nuisance and area health and safety hazard and the State of Indiana has enacted a statute dealing with abatement or removal of abandoned motor vehicles in I.C. 9-22-1-1 et seq., as amended. It is the purpose and desire of the city to enforce the state statute in the city. This chapter is not meant to supercede the state statute, but to enable its enforcement in the city.
