§ 95.20  OVERHANGING BRANCHES.
   Pursuant to the statutes of the State of Nebraska, including Neb. RS 17-557 and 17-557.01, the owner of any lot, piece or parcel of ground abutting any right-of-way on which a street has been constructed and over which street there extends the branches of trees shall at all times keep the branches or limbs thereof trimmed to the height of at least 12 feet above the surface of the street. The owner of any lot, piece or parcel of ground abutting any right-of-way on which a sidewalk has been constructed and over which sidewalk there extends the branches of trees when the tree branches do not also extend over any street, shall at all times keep the branches and limbs thereof trimmed to the height of at least seven and one-half feet above the surface of the walk. Whenever branches or limbs extend otherwise, the Council may pass a resolution ordering the owner to cut or remove the obstructions within five days after its publication, or personal service of notice thereof, or the city will remove the branches or limbs and charge the costs thereof as a special assessment to the abutting property.
