§ 36.08 CONFIDENTIAL FUND.
   (A)   Pursuant to statutory powers granted a municipality under IC 36-1-3-1 et seq. there is created within the City of Aurora a Confidential Fund for the use of the Aurora Police Department.
   (B)   All funds making up the Confidential Fund shall be appropriated in the manner authorized by state statute.
   (C)   That to the fullest extent permitted by law, confidential investigative information shall not be disclosed as public information to protect police investigations and the safety of Aurora Police Department officers.
   (D)   Use of the Confidential Fund shall be governed by the procedures of IC 36-1-8-3 related to petty cash funds.
   (E)   The Confidential Fund line item appropriation will be set in accordance to the City of Aurora Police Department budgetary needs and annual departmental budget as approved by the City of Aurora Common Council annually during the city budget cycle approval process. Accounting procedures in place as adopted and implemented by the city, the State Board of Accounts accounting guidelines and the City of Aurora Police Department Standard Operating Procedure (General Order 03-10) shall be followed.
   (F)   Additional revenue for the Confidential Fund will be supplemented by the collection of drug seizure monies and search warrants. Unused funds within the Confidential Fund shall be maintained throughout the fund's existence and may only be used as needed by the City of Aurora Police Department in accordance to confidential fund requirements.
   (G)   The authority for the appropriation will exist until terminated by ordinance of the City of Aurora Common Council.
