It shall be the duty of the Fire Department to cause their engine, or engines, hose, hooks and ladders and any and all other necessary equipment to be conveyed to a place where any fire may occur in any area allocated to them, to apply and use such upon the directions of the Fire Chief, the Deputy Fire Chief or officers in charge, and after such fire is extinguished, to return the same on order of the proper officer to the engine house and as soon as possible thereafter to clean the engine and apparatus thoroughly. All equipment shall not only be cleaned, but shall be put in such condition as to be adequate for response to another fire. Such company is also required to respond whenever the Chief or Deputy Fire Chief or any other line officer shall direct and if any member of the Company shall willfully neglect to perform any of the duties aforesaid such member shall forfeit and pay a fine (to be determined by the Common Council on the advice of the Fire Chief) and shall be subject to suspension by the Chief or Deputy Fire Chief subject to the proceedings as herein stated in regard to such suspension or removal of a member by the Fire Chief or officer in charge. Such officer in charge shall have the power and authority and duties as stated for the Fire Chief, such to include a report to the Common Council and notification to the member of potential suspension.
