(A) The city shall provide compensation for the regular members of the Fire Department at a rate prescribed by the Common Council for each fire or fire/rescue call, the 12 regular training sessions, the four vehicle extrication sessions, and the 12 maintenance sessions. If any member fails to attend 20% of the fire or fire/rescue calls in the year from January through December, then that member shall not be compensated by the city for any amount.
(B) Fire or fire/rescue call is defined as a call placed to the Fire Department in which a fire apparatus arrives on scene and the fire personnel perform their duties.
(C) The Common Council can, with the advisement of the Fire Chief, assess fines for failing to attend a fire or fire/rescue call, the regular training, vehicle extrication training, or maintenance session, as long as the fine does not exceed the amount of compensation.
(D) The Fire Chief shall report the number of fire or fire/rescue calls, regular training sessions, vehicle extrication training sessions, and maintenance training sessions on the regular council meeting at June and December sessions to determine compensation. Any fire or fire/rescue call, regular training, etc. occurring after the December council meeting shall be tabulated on the following year's numbers.
