§ 31.071  CITY PHYSICIAN.
   (A)   A City Physician shall be appointed who shall be a licensed physician residing permanently within the city and who shall serve as a member of the Board of Health of the city. The City Physician shall perform the duties and have the powers as devolve upon him or her as the medical advisor of the Board of Health and as are otherwise provided for that office by ordinance or by the laws of the state.
   (B)   In the case of all injuries where a liability may be asserted against the city, the City Physician shall immediately investigate the injuries, the extent thereof and the circumstances. He or she shall then report the results of his or her investigation with the name of the party injured and all other persons who may have personal knowledge of the matter. He or she shall make all physical examinations and necessary laboratory tests incident thereto and issue the health certificates as are required by ordinance and by the laws of the state. When premises are quarantined, he or she shall, when ordered to do so by the City Council, disinfect or fumigate the premises or the persons in or about the premises. He or she shall, when ordered to do so by the City Council, render medical service to indigent sick persons and shall perform other professional services as the City Council may direct. He or she shall, in the discharge of his or her official duties and upon proper identification of his or her official capacity, have authority pursuant to this chapter to enter into any building, structure or premises in the city at any reasonable hour for the purpose of making inspections of the sanitary conditions of the building, structure or premises and the state of health of the inhabitants thereof. The inspections shall be carried out as provided by the laws of the state, including, but not limited to, Neb. RS 29-830 through 29-835, inclusive, as amended or superseded. The City Physician shall receive as compensation for his or her services sums of money as the City Council may from time to time set by resolution, but he or she shall receive no compensation for his or her services as a member of the City Board of Health.
