§ 73.12 REGULATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS.
   (A)   Any golf cart operated on a designated public roadway must comply with the following regulations:
      (1)   The golf cart must be issued a permit sticker which may be obtained from the Auburn Police Department. The permit sticker issued pursuant to this section shall be effective for a period of one year from January 1 to December 31. The permit sticker fee shall be $15.00 and shall not be prorated.
      (2)   The permit sticker issued by the city shall identify the golf cart that is allowed to be operated on specific roadways within the city and the permit sticker shall be displayed in a visible location on the rear of the golf cart at all times.
      (3)   Each golf cart must be inspected by a certified inspector designated by the Logan County Sheriff and certified through the Department of Vehicle Regulation to insure that the golf cart complies with the requirements of KRS 189.286 and the requirements of this subchapter. The inspection fee under this section shall not exceed five dollars ($5.00) with an additional fee not to exceed ten dollars ($10.00) per trip to be charged by the inspector to travel to the site of the golf cart rather than having the golf cart brought to the Sheriff's inspection area.
   (B)   A person may operate a golf cart on a public roadway designated in § 73.11 if:
      (1)   The posted speed limit of the designated public roadway is thirty-five (35) miles per hour or less. A golf cart shall not be operated in any area or on any portion of any public roadway where the designated speed limit is above thirty-five (35) miles per hour.
      (2)   The operator of a golf cart may not cross a roadway at an intersection where the roadway being crossed has a posted limit of more than thirty-five (35) miles per hour.
      (3)   The operator of a golf cart pursuant to this ordinance must possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license and must have the license in his or her possession at all times while operating the golf cart.
      (4)   The golf cart is being operated between the hours of sunrise and sunset; and
      (5)   The golf cart displays a slow-moving vehicle emblem in compliance with KRS 189.820.
   (C)   A golf cart operating on a public roadway pursuant to this subchapter shall be insured with a policy of liability insurance in compliance with KRS 304.39-080 by the owner or operator and the proof of insurance shall be maintained inside the golf cart at all times of operation on a public roadway.
   (D)   Any person operating a golf cart on a public roadway pursuant to the provisions of this Ordinance shall be subject to all traffic regulations set out in KRS Chapter 189.
