§ 30.05 BEREAVEMENT LEAVE.
   (A)   Employees may be allowed leave for death in the immediate family as follows:
      (1)   Five consecutive days leave in the event of the death of a spouse, children and/or parents.
      (2)   A period not to exceed three consecutive days for other members of the immediate family.
      (3)   The “immediate family” means: brother, sister, father-in-law, mother-in-law, daughter-in-law, sister-in-law, son-in-law, grandfather, grandmother and grandchildren.
      (4)   Two consecutive days for aunt, uncle, niece, nephew and cousin if the employee attends the funeral.
      (5)   Two days extra may be allowed if any death requires out-of-state travel.
      (6)   All of the above will be at the discretion of your supervisor and/or Town Council.
   (B)   Any period longer than the allotted amount of time specified, employees must use his or her vacation time, compensatory time or personal time. If more time is needed than the allotted time specified and the employee does not have any vacation time, compensatory time or personal time, loss of time will be deducted from the employee’s pay. If an employee is found to be abusing or falsifying either of the policies concerning sick days or bereavement leave, he or she will be subject to disciplinary action up to and including dismissal.
