6-4-1: DEFINITIONS:
As used in this chapter, unless a different meaning clearly appears from the context, the following terms shall have the meanings ascribed:
DISCRIMINATE: Includes difference in treatment in the sale, lease, rental or financing of housing accommodations because of race, color, creed, religion, religious beliefs or national origin.
HOUSING: Any building or structure, or portion thereof designed, intended, arranged or designed to be used as or occupied as a home, residence, living quarters or sleeping place of one or more human beings.
HOUSING ACCOMMODATION: Means and includes any building, structure or portion thereof which is used or occupied, or is maintained, arranged or designated or designed to be used or occupied as a home, residence or sleeping place of one or more human beings.
LENDING INSTITUTION: Any bank, insurance company, savings and loan association or person in the business of lending money or guaranteeing loans, or any person in the business of obtaining, arranging or negotiating loans or guarantees as an agent or broker, or any person in the business of buying or selling of loans or instruments for the payment of money which is secured by title to or a security interest in real estate.
OWNER: Any person who holds legal or equitable title to, or any beneficial interest in, any dwelling or housing, or to any legal or equitable title to shares of, or any beneficial interest in, any real estate cooperative which owns any dwelling or housing.
REAL ESTATE BROKER: Any real estate broker or agent thereof or who exercises any function of a real estate broker within the city. (1972 Code)
