6-1-5: POLICE OFFICERS COMMISSIONED; COMPENSATION:
   (A)   Commissioned: Police officers appointed by the mayor and approved by the city council shall, before they enter upon the discharge of their duties, be commissioned under the corporate seal, signed by the mayor or presiding officer of the city council and city clerk, and shall receive such pay for their services as the city council shall from time to time allow.
   (B)   Compensation: The chief of police and police officers shall be entitled in addition to their salary or per diem the same fees that are now or may hereafter be allowed by the laws of this state to constables for like services in making arrests, serving summonses, etc., to be collected as costs from the offenders or property sold, except where the fees are fixed by ordinance and a different mode provided for its collection or payment.
