4-1-1: PART TIME POLICE:
   A.   Training: All police officers, other than those officers who shall be employed on a full time basis, shall be required to be qualified and successfully complete any training mandated by the Illinois law enforcement training and standards board.
   B.   Hiring Standards: Part time police officers may be hired by the city, as authorized by statute, in accordance with the following hiring standards:
      1.   The applicant must be a U.S. citizen;
      2.   The applicant must be twenty one (21) years of age or older;
      3.   The applicant must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalency;
      4.   The applicant must have a valid driver's license;
      5.   The applicant must have no felony convictions; and
      6.   The applicant must meet all standards set forth in 430 Illinois Compiled Statutes 65/0.01 et seq., pertaining to the firearms owners identification act.
   C.   Responsibilities: A part time police officer shall have all the responsibilities of a full time police officer, but the number of hours a part time officer may work within a calendar year is restricted.
   D.   Submission Of Provisions To State: The aforesaid hiring standards, particularly with respect to part time police officers employed by the city, shall be submitted to the Illinois law enforcement training and standards board, as required by statute. (Ord. 12-2012, 8-13-2012)
