2-1-9: BOND REQUIREMENTS:
   A.   Each person desiring a liquor license shall execute a penal bond in the sum of two thousand dollars ($2,000.00) and file it in the city clerk's office with the application for the license. The bond must be with a solvent surety company licensed to do business in the state of Illinois, and approved by the local liquor control commissioner or by cashier's check. The bond shall be made payable to the city of Athens and conditioned on the faithful observance of the licensee with the provisions of this chapter, this code, and the laws of the state of Illinois and of the United States Of America applying to the sale and possession of intoxicating liquor and shall be further conditioned upon the payment of all fines and costs which may be assessed against the licensee for the violation of any of the provisions hereof.
   B.   If a licensee shall be convicted of the violation of any of the provisions of this chapter or of the Illinois liquor control act, or his license shall be revoked by the local or state liquor commissioner and no appeal is taken from said order of revocation or any appeal taken therefrom is decided adversely to the licensee, the bond required by this section shall thereupon be forfeited, and the local liquor control commissioner shall institute suit upon such bond in the name of the city of Athens for the entire amount of said bond and costs.
