2-1-5: LICENSE AND COMPLIANCE REQUIRED; PROHIBITIONS REGARDING DISTRIBUTORS:
   A.   It shall be unlawful for any person, either by himself or through an agent, or any person acting as an agent, barkeeper, clerk, or servant of another, to dispense, sell or offer for sale at retail any alcoholic beverage or engage in any "sale" as defined in section 2-1-2 of this chapter within the corporate limits without first having obtained a license to do so as provided in this chapter.
   B.   It shall be unlawful for any person to sell or offer for sale any intoxicating liquors or alcoholic liquors, or engage in any "sale" as defined in section 2-1-2 of this chapter, in violation of the terms and conditions of such license.
   C.   Persons licensed by the state of Illinois as distributors are specifically prohibited from selling at retail any alcoholic beverages in any quantity whatsoever.
   D.   The punishment for violation of this section shall be not less than one hundred dollars ($100.00) nor more than seven hundred fifty dollars ($750.00) per each separate violation. Each sale on a given date shall be deemed a separate violation. (Ord. 06-87, 11-2-1987; amd. 2017 Code)
