The Chief of Police, subject to the approval of the City Manager, shall be the commanding officer of the Auxiliary Police Unit and shall have control of the assignment, training, stationing and direction of the work of such Unit. The Unit shall perform only such police duties as are assigned by the Chief, subject to the approval of the City Manager, and shall act only when in the uniform prescribed by the Chief.
