This section shall not apply to, or include lectures on historical, literary and scientific subjects; and provided further that all exhibitions, concerts and entertainments given by and for the benefit of any church or benevolent institution, or by the public schools of the City, and any exhibitions, theatrical performance, concert or entertainment given in any church or in the opera house of the City, and all concerts and entertainments given and rendered by any citizen of the City may be exhibited and given without a license.
