In order to protect the citizens of Ashe County and their properties, the provisions of this chapter are established to provide for fingerprinting, criminal history, and motor vehicle record checks on all prospective employees of Ashe County. Subject to the provisions of this chapter, employment with Ashe County may be denied with respect to those persons convicted of crimes against a person, crimes against property where intent is an element, a drug or gambling related offense, or certain motor vehicle offenses.
