Every itinerant salesman or merchant, as defined in this chapter, who shall expose for sale, either on the street or in a building occupied, in whole or in part, for that purpose, any goods, wares or merchandise, not being a regular merchant in the county, shall, subject to the exceptions and exemptions as set forth in G.S. § 105-53, apply for in advance and procure a county license from the County Tax Collector, and shall pay for such license a tax of $100.
