§ 99.40 STEPS, WALKWAYS AND DRIVEWAYS.
The policy of the city concerning street construction and repairs as affecting abutting steps, walks and driveways shall be as prescribed in this section.
   (A)   As to existing steps, walks and driveways. Where an abutting property owner has concrete or masonry steps or a walk or driveway prior to the beginning of any street work, such steps, walk or driveway shall be reconstructed during course of work to a status equivalent to that existing prior to the beginning of such street work, and the cost thereof shall be charged to the project.
   (B)   Installation of concrete steps for abutting property owners. Where an abutting property owner has no steps prior to the beginning of street work, the Engineering Department is authorized to take up the matter of steps with the property owner at the same time that it goes into the matter of driveway entrances; stating to the property owner in this situation that he can get concrete steps at the time the street work is done by agreeing to pay for both labor and materials.
   (C)   Property owner's option as to concrete or wooden steps. Where the property owner has wooden steps but wants concrete steps, division (B) of this section shall apply. If he wants to retain his wooden steps, they shall be reerected in as nearly their shape and condition as possible on the same basis as division (A) of this section.
   (D)   Driveways. Driveways in use or clearly about to be used shall be stoned back to the point in which the driveway was affected by the street work.
