§ 70.01 DEFINITIONS.
   For the purpose of this title, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
   ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE. Shall have the meaning set forth in I.C. 7.1-1-3-5.

    BUREAU. The Bureau of Motor Vehicles of the state.

   CONTAINER. Shall have the meaning set forth in I.C. 7.1-1-3.

    DRIVER. A person driving, operating, parking, or in actual physical control of a vehicle.

   GROSS WEIGHT. The total weight of any vehicle or combination of vehicles and the load or loads thereof.

   MOTOR VEHICLE. Shall have the meaning set forth in I.C. 9-13-2-105 except that MOTOR VEHICLE as used in this section shall not include:
      (1)   Recreation vehicles, as defined in I.C. 9-13-2-150; or
      (2)   Any chartered passenger vehicle licensed to operate within the state.

   OWNER. The last known holder of record title of a vehicle according to the records of the Bureau under the provisions of I.C. 9-17 and 9-18.1.

   PARKING. The stopping of a vehicle in a street or in a portion of a street, except as required by a traffic control signal or device or on direction of a policeman.

   PERSON. Every natural person, firm, corporation, partnership, limited liability company, or association.

   POLICE OFFICER. Every officer authorized to direct or regulate traffic or to make arrest for violations of traffic regulations, statutes, or ordinances.

   PRIVATE PREMISES. All privately owned property which is not classified within the definition of public premises.

   PUBLIC AGENCY. The Department of Local Government which is assigned the local responsibility to adopt local regulations concerning public premises.

   PUBLIC PREMISES. Any public right-of-way, street, highway, alley, park, or other state, county, or municipally owned property.

   SEMI-TRACTOR. Every vehicle designed and used primarily for drawing other vehicles and not so constructed as to carry a load other than a part of the weight of the vehicle and the load so drawn.

   SEMI-TRAILER. Every vehicle designed and used primarily for carrying property and for being drawn by a vehicle, including, but not limited to, semitrailers, pull-trailers, and vehicle transporters.

   STREET or HIGHWAY. The entire width between boundary lines of every way publicly maintained when any part thereof is open to the use of the public, as a matter of right, for the purpose of vehicular traffic. The term includes an alley.

   VEHICLE. Every device in, upon, or by which any person or property is or may be transported or drawn upon a highway, except devices moved by human power or used exclusively upon stationary rails or tracks.
