§ 51.003 SUPERINTENDENT.
   (A)   Generally. The Superintendent of the Water Department shall be subject to the supervision of the Streets and Water Committee and shall be hereinafter be referred to as the "Superintendent". The Superintendent shall be appointed by the Mayor, by and with the advice and consent of the Village Board and shall hold office until his or her successor is appointed and qualified. He or she shall receive a salary as may be provided by the annual budget of the Village Board at the time of his or her appointment.

   (B)   Duties of the Superintendent. The Superintendent shall exercise general management and control over his or her respective Department.
      (1)   He or she shall supervise over and be responsible for the conduct and performance of all employees of the Department.
      (2)   He or she shall be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the village's water system as provided in this code.
      (3)   He or she shall be the custodian of all vehicles, equipment, structures and property provided by the village for the use of his or her Department.
      (4)   He or she shall enforce the provisions of this chapter and make the inspections, measurements and tests as necessary for that purpose.
      (5)   He or she shall perform other duties as may be assigned to him or her by the provisions of this chapter or by the Village Board.
