§ 32.04 VACATION.
   (A)   Each regular full-time employee of the village shall be eligible for paid vacation benefits as follows.
      (1)   Each employee having completed one year of continuous service, but not more than two years of continuous service, on the anniversary date of his or her employment shall be granted one week (five working days) vacation with pay within one year after the anniversary date of employment.
      (2)   Each employee having completed two years of continuous service, but not more than ten years of continuous service, on the anniversary date of his or her employment shall be granted two weeks (ten working days) vacation with pay within one year after his or her anniversary date of employment.
      (3)   Each employee having completed ten years of continuous service, but not more than 15 years of continuous service, on the anniversary date of his or her employment shall be granted three weeks (15 working days) vacation with pay within one year after his or her anniversary date of employment.
      (4)   Each employee having completed 15 years or more of continuous service on the anniversary date of his or her employment will be granted annually four weeks (20 working days) vacation with pay within one year after his or her anniversary date of employment.
   (B)   Vacation time shall not be accumulated and carried over, except that an employee who has acquired the right to receive four weeks of vacation in one year may carry over no more than one week of unused vacation into the following year. The right to use any carried-over vacation shall end if it is not used within the one year following the year it is acquired. Vacation leave shall not be taken unless the timing has the approval of the employee’s supervisor or department head. Employees having completed ten years of service may request a cash-out of up to five days unused vacation. A formal request from the employee for a vacation cash-out must be received at least one month prior to the pay period in the which the employee’s vacation anniversary date falls. Cash-outs will be paid in the pay period in which the employee’s vacation anniversary date falls. If a formal request is not made, the practice of forfeiting the unused vacation time will continue.
   (C)   If a holiday falls during the vacation of an employee, the holiday will not be considered as one of the days of vacation for leave purposes and the employee shall be entitled to a compensatory vacation day for each paid holiday falling within his or her vacation.
   (D)   Vacation pay shall be based on the regular 40 hour weekly pay of the employee.
