§ 97.31 REPAIR REQUIRED.
   In the event that a building within the fire limits becomes damaged to the extent of less than 50% of its value, exclusive of the foundation, it shall be the duty of the owner, lessee or occupant to remove or repair the said building in accordance with the provisions of this subchapter. It shall be unlawful for any person to allow a building to stand in such damaged or decayed condition. Any such building shall be removed or repaired within 30 days after receiving notice to do so by the governing body; provided, no combustible building lawfully within the fire limits at the time the damage occurs shall be repaired so as to increase the height of such building to a level higher than the highest point left standing after such damage shall have occurred, nor so as to occupy greater space than before the damage.
