All members of the Fire Department shall follow the following guidelines.
(A) A probationary period for new members shall be for a period of six months or until the required training is completed. No probationary member will drive any equipment on emergency runs until the member has been on the Department for a period of one year.
(B) Each member must complete basic fire training within the first year of his or her appointment providing a school is available or as soon as one is available. Each member will renew his or her T-I card every three years.
(C) Each new member to the Department must be approved by a vote of 2/3 of all the fire members present at their regular meeting. Upon the 2/3 approval vote, the name of the new member shall be turned into the Safety Committee for appointment by Council.
(D) All members shall not wear excessive facial hair so as to interfere with the operation of the breathing apparatus.
(E) All equipment and turn out gear will be maintained in good condition and kept in as clean appearance as possible by each member to whom the equipment is issued. Each member shall report to the Chief any equipment in need of repair or replacement.
(F) Each member shall be responsible for any equipment and protective gear issued by the Fire Department, should the same be lost or stolen.
(G) Any piece of equipment belonging to the Anna Fire Department to be used by any member other than in the course of firefighting situations, must first be approved by the member’s immediate supervisor and, thereafter through the chain of command to the Fire Chief. The equipment shall be returned immediately upon any notification of an emergency run.
(H) No village fire truck will leave the station on an emergency run without a minimum of two persons, with the exception, that in the event a member responded to the Department to an emergency call and has waited for a period of at least two minutes and no fellow member arrives, then the member shall have authority to operate the fire truck to the emergency on his or her own behalf.
(I) Any member, regardless of rank or seniority, who becomes consistently inactive without cause from emergency runs, training exercises, equipment checks, drills or special details for a period of three months, shall be considered an inactive member and his or her name shall be turned into the Safety Committee for possible dismissal.
(J) Any member missing consecutive meetings without good cause will have his or her name turned into the Safety Committee for possible dismissal.
(K) Any member bringing discredit to the Anna Fire Department will be reviewed by its officers and have their name turned into the Safety Committee for possible dismissal.
