(A) The members of the auxiliary police unit shall be residents of the State of Ohio, may not be under the age of 18 years at the time of appointment, and must satisfy any other requirements as provided by the general rules adopted under § 33.045.
(B) All members of the auxiliary police unit, prior to their appointment, shall: (1) have been awarded a certificate by the Executive Director of the Ohio Peace Officer Training Council, attesting to the member’s satisfactory completion of an approved state, county or municipal police training program in accordance with R.C. § 109.77; or (2) be currently enrolled in an Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy.
(C) Every person, prior to appointment, shall have passed a physical examination within 60 days prior to the date of appointment given by a physician licensed to practice medicine in the State of Ohio. The results of this physical examination must demonstrate that the person meets the physical requirements necessary to perform the duties of the position to which the member is to be appointed.
