§ 51.39 INSTALLATION OF BACKFLOW PREVENTION ASSEMBLY.
   (A)   Backflow prevention assemblies must be installed where required by City Ordinance, OAR, and the most recently adopted Public Works Design Standards.
   (B)   Current users of private water supplies who, once connected to the City’s water system, choose to retain a connection to his, her, or their private water supply shall install a Public Works approved backflow prevention assembly that must be installed on the connection to the premises. If water from a supply other than that provided by the City is found without proper backflow protection the City’s water supply to the premises shall be immediately shut off with or without notice, while the associated account remains active. In case of such discontinuance, service shall not be reestablished until satisfactory proof is furnished that the cross-connection, or potential cross-connection, has been completely and permanently eliminated or that an approved backflow prevention assembly commensurate to the degree of hazard has been installed on the service connection to the premises, and the assembly has been inspected, tested, and approved by Public Works. All costs incurred will be the responsibility of the owner and/or account holder, not the City.
