155.05   RESIDENTIAL WOOD FLOOR CANTILEVERS. 
Notwithstanding the provisions of Chapter 23 of the International Building Code and Chapter 5 of the International Residential Code, the maximum floor cantilevers of dimensional wood floor systems serving uses regulated by the International Building Code for group R occupancies and residential occupancies regulated by the International Residential Code shall not exceed a projecting dimension equal to twice the depth of the floor joist for bearing cantilevers and three times the depth of the joist for non-bearing cantilevers. This provision shall not apply to Engineered Wood products or cantilevers designed by a registered design professional for a specific application.
