7-1-5: DANGEROUS ANIMALS:
Members of the police department, and any other person in the city, are authorized to kill any dangerous animal when necessary for the protection of any person or property; subject, however, to provisions set forth in chapter 12 of this title.
In the protection of property, no person other than members of the police department and animal control officers shall be authorized by this section to use any firearm except a shotgun, pellet gun or a weapon commonly referred to as an air gun, except as expressly allowed by the statutes of this state or of the United States Of America.
