The inauguration of the mayor and the organization of the new city council, or the organization of the new city council alone, as the case may be, and the terms of all elected municipal officers shall commence immediately following the first regular meeting of the corporate authorities in May after receipt of the official election results from the county clerk of the regular municipal election at which the officers were elected.
