§ 93.40  ASSIGNMENT OF NAMES AND NUMBERS.
   (A)   Identification of streets. Every street located within the corporate limits of the village shall be identified by a name on the recorded plat thereof and a copy of such recorded plat placed on file in the office of the Village Clerk before any construction shall be permitted thereon.
   (B)   Assignment of street numbers. At the time of the application for a building permit, the Village Clerk shall assign a street number to each residence or principal business structure to be constructed upon real estate within the corporate limits of the village, which street number will be utilized in all cases for the purpose of identifying the location of that residence or business structure.
   (C)   Duty to install. It shall be duty of the owner, agent, lessee or occupant of any residence of principal business structure within the corporate limits of the village to place, or cause to be installed and maintained, on such residence or principal business structure, a proper street number as assigned by the Village Clerk.
   (D)   Minimum requirements of size and coloring. The figures of each number shall be not less than two and one-half inches in height. Each figure shall be plain, legible and of contrasting color with its background. The numbers shall be maintained in such condition at all times.
   (E)   Location of numbering. The street number shall be placed on the residence or principal business structure in a conspicuous place as near as may be to the main entrance thereto so that it may be easily seen from the street extending in front of said residence or principal business structure. The requirement for street numbers as specified in this subchapter shall be the minimum requirement. The owner, agent, lessee or occupant of any principal building may place such other correct house numbers on such building as deemed necessary, so long as the minimum requirements of this subchapter are met.
