§ 52.21 JOINTS.
   (A)   All joints and connections in connection with a building sewer shall be made tightly and be gastight and watertight.
      (1)   Cast-iron pipe joints shall be firmly packed with oakum or hemp and filled with molten lead, Federal Specification QQ-L-156, not less than one inch deep.
      (2)   Lead shall be run in one pouring and calked tight, and no paint, varnish, or other coatings shall be permitted on the jointing material until after the joint has been tested and approved.
   (B)   All joints in or between vitrified clay pipe shall be fitted with factory-made resilient compression joints meeting the ASTM Specification for Vitrified Clay Pipe Joints Having Resilient Properties, C-425.
   (C)   Other jointing materials and methods may be used only by approval of the inspector.
   (D)   The provisions of this section notwithstanding, all joints shall comply with the State Plumbing Code.
