§ 35.063 JURY DUTY.
   (A)   (1)   The town encourages employees to fulfill their civic responsibilities by serving jury duty when required.
      (2)   Employee classifications that qualify for jury duty leave are:
         (a)   Regular full-time employees.
         (b)   Regular part-time employees.
   (B)   Employees who are required to serve jury duty may be paid their normal wage during the period they are absent from work, provided that any amount they are paid for jury duty will be refunded to the town, not including any amount they are reimbursed for travel expenses.
   (C)   Employees must show the jury duty summons to their department head as soon as possible so that arrangements may be made to accommodate the absence. Of course, employees are expected to report for work whenever the court schedule permits.
   (D)   Either the town or the employee may request an excuse from jury duty if, in the town’s judgment, the employee’s absence would create serious operational difficulties.
   (E)   The town will continue to provide health insurance benefits while the employee is on jury duty. All paid time off benefits will continue to accrue during a jury duty leave.
