§ 31.13 FIRE LIMITS, DESCRIPTION.
   The territory comprised within the limits herein described hereby is made and constituted the fire limits of the city: beginning at the intersection of North Street with the Carolina and Northwestern Railroad (formerly Yadkin Railroad) and then run with North Street eastwardly approximately 1500 feet to the center of the square at the intersection of North and Third Street; then with Third Street southwardly approximately 1400 feet to the center of the square at the intersection of Third and East South Streets; then with South Street westwardly approximately 500 feet to the center of the square at the intersection of South and Second Street; then with Second Street southwardly approximately 600 feet to the intersection of Second and Old Charlotte Road; then with Old Charlotte Road westwardly approximately 600 feet to the center of the Carolina and Northwestern Railroad right-of-way; then with the center line of the Railroad right-of-way northwardly approximately 2125 feet to the beginning; provided however, that there is excluded from the above territory any lot or tract within the territory on which a building is now or may hereafter be located that is or would be greater than 30 feet from all adjoining property lines. It is hereby intended that any building located in an area excluded from the above defined territory shall not be required to comply with the special conditions required for construction or repair or renovation in the above defined territory, but shall comply with the building codes requirements of similar type construction in the city but otherwise outside the above defined territory.
