The contractor shall not assign or sublet the contract as a whole or in part without the written consent of the town. The consent does not release the contractor from any obligation or liability under the contract. Violation of this provision shall result in immediate cancellation of the contract. Any violation of the contract shall be sufficient cause for the immediate cancellation of the contract by the Town Council, who may thereupon employ the necessary labor to perform the work or re-advertise or re-let the work at the expense of the offending contractor and his or her sureties.
