When signs are erected giving notice thereof, it shall be unlawful for any person operating a motor vehicle, a bicycle or motorized bicycle or an animal-drawn vehicle to enter upon or across or turn into an intersection designated as a three-way or four-way (or all-way) stop in the following table from any of the intersecting streets without first stopping and permitting any vehicular cross-traffic which has previously arrived at such intersection to safely proceed through same.
